6th year assembly
*Note: The arrangements published by the Department of Education and Skills (DES) recognises the need to provide for contingency arrangements within the standardised school year to deal with unforeseen school closures (such as the “snow days” in 2010/2011). The Board of Management can agree a number of changes to normal practice to address any such shortfalls. However, should the Board feel that those measures are not adequate, then contingency arrangements to make up for time lost due to extensive or prolonged unforeseen school closures may now also include either or both of the following: (a) The February mid-term break may be reduced by up to three days (i.e. school may have to be open on 16th 17th 18th February) and/or (b) The Easter break may be reduced by up to three days (i.e. school may have to be open on 30th, 31st March and 1st April). Every effort will be made to avoid such changes but all members of the school community should note the possibility of these contingencies.
Following the pandemic, The Board of Marian College reserves the right to adjust:
1. The calendar and school timetable
2. The code of discipline and classroom rules, as is necessary.
